CIARA MCMAHON
In Détruis Space artist Ciara McMahon explores social spaces. Garden compost – and obliquely the reluctant or enthusiastic compost producers – form the subject matter for this work. Détruis Space covertly questions the viewer's commitment to addressing environmental issues: Just how 'green' is our instinctive reaction to compost?

BOW STREET
Bow Street- ABSOLUT FRINGE
Tadhg O’Sullivan
14 September – 20 September

Shot and recorded over a month on a narrow Dublin street of bustling barristers, bowed street-drinkers, box-ticking tourists, proud and shamed seekers-of-a-free-lunch at the Capuchin day centre, Bow St. is a film and exhibition that hurries and slows to the criss-crossing paces of a hundred passers-by. The camera traces the movements and pauses of everyday lives; voices drift in and out with personal stories, musings on life and love, fuck ups and forgiveness, holding on and letting go. A unique look past the assumed anonymity of our urban lives.

ENEMIES
The Enemies - ABSOLUT FRINGE
Miranda Driscoll and Michael Fleming
9 September – 11 September

If you were given the time to make something at the risk of letting it disappear forever, would you take it? Can an artist make work in isolation, knowing that no one will ever see it, hear it, read it? Such is the dilemma facing condemned author and playwright, Jaromir Hladik, for whom time stands still in Jorge Luis Borges’ story 'the Secret Miracle'. Using projected visuals and music, collaborative artists Miranda Driscoll and Michael Fleming lead viewers through 'the Enemies', a multi-roomed installation, revealing the artists’ response to the fantastical nature of Borges’ story, Hladik's isolated universe and inevitable end.

The thirty minute piece is made up of thousands of still and moving images with both live and recorded music.
